What to expect on your initial driving lesson
On your very first driving lesson, your instructor will usually take you to a quiet spot in Anglesey where you can relax and get to know the car’s controls. How long does a first practical lesson usually last?
In Anglesey, many learners find that a 90-minute driving lesson works best, as focus can start to fade after that point. Even so, a one-hour session can still be very effective, with plenty of useful practice on local roads. Since Anglesey doesn’t have its own test centre, most learners will sit their driving test in Bangor.
Which documents and items do I need for my first lesson?
For your very first driving lesson, you’ll need to bring along your provisional driving licence so your instructor can check it. If you haven’t applied for one yet, you can do so online here. Other than that, just make sure you wear comfortable shoes that are easy to drive in — and you’ll be ready to get started!
Can I begin practical lessons without the theory test?
Yes — you can begin your driving lessons without having passed the theory test. However, you’ll need to successfully complete the theory before you’re able to book your practical driving test.
