Learner Driver Guide

Learning to drive is an exciting journey to start on, but what exactly are the first steps you need to take to get yourself on the road?

At andrew’s Driving School we will guide you every step of the way, but there are a couple of things that you will need to do before you book your first driving lesson.

Step 1:

  • Apply for your provisional licence, you won’t be able to get behind the wheel until you have received your provisional driving licence. Your instructor will not let you drive without seeing it at the beginning of your first driving lesson. You can apply for your provisional anytime from when you are aged 15 and 9 months old.
  • You also need to be at least 17 years old, or16 if you get, or have applied for, the enhanced rate of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment.
  • If you have any health conditions, or need to wear glasses, you should speak to your doctor or optician to make sure you are safe to drive.

To run alongside our driving lessons we have produced some PDF worksheets to help you to remember what you have been taught on your lessons.
